EVENT BRIEF

Background:

According to the United Nations (UN), over 400 migrants (mostly Africans) perished in the Mediterranean Sea in the first quarter of 2023 (the worst of such mishaps recorded in the first quarter of a new year within the past six years) while attempting to cross over from Africa to Europe. Nearly 100,000 migrants were estimated to have arrived in Europe via the Mediterranean Sea between January and July 2023 alone whilst thousands of illegal border crossings from Africa are recorded yearly on the European continent. Figures like these continue to affirm that a number of Africans are in an endless pursuit of green pastures on the European continent, and these tendencies should not be disregarded. It behoves both the governments and various private organisations such as ours, to play a role in promoting legal and safe immigration.

In the same vein, several research show that Europe remains the top study destination for Africans. A recent report by Campus France reveals that Europe is the continent with the largest number of sub-Saharan African students studying abroad, with the greatest number of students from Nigeria, Cameroon, and Zimbabwe.

Europe on the other hand as a continent grapple with shortage of labour. The European Labour Authority (ELA) EURES Report on labour shortages and surpluses 20225 published this year, shows that almost 400 occupations were classified as dealing with shortage of manpower by at least one country amongst the countries studied. Thirty-eight (38) specific occupations are shown to have widespread and (mostly) severe shortages, especially in the construction/engineering crafts, medical, and technology (software) industries. Several countries on the continent have been seeking to alleviate their manpower shortage challenge by extending search into other regions, especially Africa with its young, large, and vibrant population. Germany’s Job seeker’s Visa and its new Opportunity Card, Austria’s Red-White-Red-Card, and Sweden’s Residence Permit for qualified persons to look for work, are a few of such initiatives extended to third country nationals to immigrate to these countries. Moreover, almost all the countries within the EU bloc now offer post-study Visa opportunities to international students who graduate from their various institutions.

We at Reify Konsult recognise these developments and are ardent advocates of legitimate immigration for those who have interest in it. One of our mantras is that Africans can immigrate to Europe via legitimate means. This event therefore seeks to further promote this mantra by introducing participants to the various Study as well as Work in Europe options and to also help them access these opportunities.

At the event, participants will:

1. learn about the various, study options in Europe.
2.learn about the different relocation for work opportunities in Europe (EU countries) such as Job seeker’s Visa, Skilled work relocation, Relocation as medical personnel, Vocational traineeship, Au-pair, etc.
3. meet representatives of various top institutions across Europe.
4. have the possibility of securing admission spots for 2024 academic year.
5. meet representatives of key job recruitment consultancies/firms and begin conversations about work options.

and much more…
